Singapore International Jewelry Expo (SIJE) 2018

A team of Diploma in Integrated Events and Project Management Students (DEPM) collaborated with Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS) Pte Ltd to organise Singapore International Jewelry Expo (SIJE) 2018, the region's largest consumer jewelry show in its 14th consecutive year. Held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre from 26th to 29th July, SIJE 2018 attracted an astounding 16,200 buyers and visitors locally and internationally.

The students role in this project was mainly to assist CEMS in their marketing efforts. To promote SIJE 2018 to a larger audience, the team pitched various ideas such as a hands-on workshop, Instagram contest and International Jewelry Designer Awards. Through liaising with external parties to bring their ideas to life, they understood the importance of communication. The student team communicated strategically and professionally with their clients and external parties to ensure that everyone was kept updated and to prevent any miscommunication.

On the actual event days, the team helped with on-site operations to facilitate the smooth running of the show. Their on-site job scope ranged from registration and conducting visitor surveys to overseeing the VIP and Exhibitor lounges. Through this project, they gained first-hand experience of working on a large-scale event. Such experiences would indeed be valuable to them as future event organisers.
