Development of Fire Retardant PU Foam Composites with Aerogel Additive

Synopsis

Rigid PU foams are widely used as thermal insulation materials for their low densities, low thermal conductivity, low water absorption, and high compressive strengths. However, its application is limited as unmodified PU foams are highly flammable. Thus, it is necessary to develop PU foams with highly efficient fire retardancy and better mechanical properties by adding silica aerogel additives.
