This course covers the system approach and necessary skills of smart factory automation and their standardised components for industrial use cases, especially in advanced manufacturing. The course allows the participants to understand some typical terminologies used in IoT/I4.0.This course is in collaboration with Bosch Rexroth Regional Training Centre (BRRTC) with support of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Jurong Town Corporation (JTC).

Course Objective

The course equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills of relevant factory automation software and hardware components in the system for handling, pressing and transport system. The participants have the opportunity to learn and apply the graphical linear motion control programming with an open controller-drive system concept for industrial application, how to organise Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Data Layers for ethernet protocols, motion / kinematic relevant connection for smart automation.

Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Explain the hardware and software components for handling, pressing and transport systems for factory automation
2. Design simple graphical programming for motion controller
3. Explain an open controller drive system
4. Manage data from different sources/ programs and data layers
5. Distinguish between different ethernet based fieldbus protocols and explain their advantages
6. Configure a drive with standardized fieldbus
