This course teaches participants how to design sheet metal parts and welded structures using Solidworks software.

Course Objective

The aim of the course is to teach participants how to design sheet metal parts and welded structures using Solidworks software.

The course will focus on the basic skills and concepts needed to successfully build sheet metal parts and welded structures. The course is designed around a process- or task-based approach to training, highlighting the processes and procedures that need to be followed by the participants to complete a task. The case studies will demonstrate the processes and allow participants to learn the necessary commands, options, and menus in the context of completing a task.

Course Outline

By the end of the Course, participants will be able to:

  1. Use Basic Flange features like Base Flange, Edge Flange, Hem on their Sheet Metal parts and other Sheet Metal features like Cross Break, Tab and Slot, Vent Features on their Sheet Metal parts.
  2. Create Drawings of sheet metal parts by using the Flat Pattern configuration
  3. Use Insert Bends to add bend regions to a thin-walled part and Convert to Sheet Metal command.
  4. Understand different methods of creating and using multibody techniques.
  5. Explain how Forming Tools work in SolidWorks.
  6. Create Sheet Metal Gussets and Structural member feature to make a SOLIDWORKS weldment model
  7. Manage the weldment cut list items and properties
  8. Create drawing views of weldment models and individual bodies
  9. Use Structure System to make a SOLIDWORKS weldment model
