This course aims to equip Workplace, Safety and Health (WSH) Officers with the knowledge and competency under the WSH Qualifications framework. Applicants must meet any of the tracks stated under the Minimum Entry Requirement AND complete 3 pre-requisite modules (refer below for Singapore Polytechnic’s offering).

The 3 pre-requisite modules offered by Singapore Polytechnic are:

  1. Business Presentation Delivery
  2. Workplace Safety and Health Audit Programme Management
  3. Workplace Safety and Health Management in Construction Industry

Please refer to the respective pre-requisite modules’ webpages for course dates. These course dates are sequential, and you are encouraged to sign up for the 3 pre-requisite modules at the same time.

Course Objective

This course aims to equip Workplace, Safety and Health (WSH) Officers with the knowledge and competency under the WSH Qualifications framework. The competency-based course covers comprehensively the planning, implementation, control and auditing of WSH systems. This qualification is one of the mandatory requirements to be registered as a WSH Officer under the Workplace Safety and Health Act.

Course Outline

In alignment with Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC), modules to be covered are:
1. Behavioural Safety Management
2. Emergency Response Management
3. Hazards Identification 
4. Risk Management  
5. Technical Writing 
6. Workplace Safety and Health Audit System Management 
7. Workplace Safety and Health Control Measures 
8. Workplace Safety and Health Culture Management 
9. Workplace Safety and Health Incident Management 
10. Workplace Safety and Health Performance Management 
11. Workplace Safety and Health Policy Development 
12. Workplace Safety and Health System Management 
13. Workplace Communications

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must complete 3 pre-requisite modules (refer above for Singapore Polytechnic’s offering) AND meet any of the tracks stated below:

Track 1
  • A recognised Technology/Science-related diploma / Engineering degree from Local Autonomous Universities or Polytechnics. Foreign qualifications to be considered with reference to Professional Engineers (Approved Qualifications) Notification from the Professional Engineers Board Singapore; AND
  • At least 2 years of WSH relevant working experience (1)

OR

Track 2
  • Possess ES Workplace Literacy (Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking) Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level English grade C6; AND
  • Possess ES Workplace Numeracy Level 6 or GCE'O' Level Maths grade C6; AND
  • Possess GCE 'O' Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Physics bridging course/assessment; AND
  • Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH (2); AND
  • At least 2 years of post-qualification working experience1 as WSH Supervisor, Coordinator or similar occupational role

OR

Track 3
  • Possess ES Workplace Literacy (Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking) Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level English grade C6; AND
  • Possess ES Workplace Numeracy Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level Maths grade C6; AND
  • Possess GCE 'O' Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Physics bridging course; AND
  • Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH (2); AND
  • At least 5 years of WSH-related working experience, 2 years of which should be recent working experience1, for example as a WSH Supervisor / Coordinator

Note:
(1) Applicants must attach a supporting Company Letter/Testimonial which specify the applicant’s name, designation, job description, employment start date and total years of service. Applicants without the required supporting documents will be considered incomplete and rejected.

(2) Safety Coordinators Training Course (SCTC) is not considered to be equivalent of Advanced Certificate in WSH

Certification / Accreditation

Statement of Attainment
  • A Statement of Attainment for each module will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate
  • Upon completion of all modules, participants will be issued a transcript and a Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health Certificate
  • Participants will be able to download their Statement of Attainment from MySkillsFuture Portal here.

The programme will be relevant to supervisors & managers who want to become a registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer with Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

As per SSG’s policy, the GST payable for all funding-eligible applicants is calculated based on prevailing GST rate after full course fees (before GST).
