Introduction
The SP Mechanical & Aeronautical School is pleased to introduce our new Specialist Diploma in Robotics & Automation (Advanced Robotics Application). This is a course we offer to enable engineering practitioners to further their education in a new knowledge domain as part of the journey in being a life-long learner. This part-time evening course can be completed in one year.
Course Objectives
This course aims to equip trainees with the following critical knowledge and skills in Robotics & Automation:
• To provide trainees with hands-on practical experience in Robotics & Automation fundamentals.
• To provide relevant technical knowledge and skillsets in the field of advanced robotics application to meet the current and future requirements of advanced manufacturing industry.
Suitable For
This course is suitable for engineering practitioners who are looking into acquiring relevant skillsets and upskilling of one’s competencies in the operation of robotic automation systems. With the skills and knowledge gained from this course, you will be able to take on higher value work scope as well as expanding one’s job mobility, employability and versatility across many industries.
Minimum Entry Requirements
The entry requirement for the Specialist Diploma in Robotics & Automation (Advanced Robotics Application) is a diploma or higher qualification in Computer, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering from a local public sector educational institution (PSEI).
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
Course Outline
The course consists of four modules conducted over two semesters within one academic year. Classes will be conducted in three evenings per week for 15 weeks each semester.
This course consists of 2 post diploma certificates (PDCs). Each PDC will consist of a few modules and the details are as follows:
PDC 1 Certificate in Automation
Module 1 – Industrial Automation System
Module 2 – PLC with Cloud Analytics
PDC 2 Certificate in Advanced Robotics Application
Module 1 – Collaborative Robots
Module 2 – Industrial Robots

Award / Certification / Accreditation
Upon completion of the modules in each semester, the participant will be awarded one Post-Diploma Certificates (PDC) respectively.
Upon successfully acquiring the two PDCs, the participant will be conferred a Specialist Diploma in Robotics & Automation (Advanced Robotics Application) qualification from Singapore Polytechnic.
