Micro Propulsion Thrusters Using Green Propellants

The focus of this project is to design and build a low thrust satellite propulsion system that uses Nitrous Oxide and Ethanol, which is less toxic, cheaper to store and handle than propellants that are currently utilized (e.g., Hydrazine & Nitrogen Tetroxide).

With the lack of testing infrastructure for operating and recording of thruster performance data in SP, this project will allow students to test thrusters that use different propellants. Furthermore, it teaches them about designing and assembling high-pressure fluid systems and rocket propulsion.
