EAE Guidelines

The Early Admissions Exercise or EAE is a yearly discretionary admissions exercise that allows SP to select and admit students based on their passion, interests and aptitude apart from academic grades. Learners of all ages are more engaged and tend to do well while pursuing a course they are passionate about.

Ideal Applicant

SP’s Diploma in Accountancy (DAC) course is seeking applicants who like numbers, have an eye for detail and hold strong ethical values. With the evolution of our industry in the digital world, we are looking for a genuine keenness to develop business & digital savviness, creative/critical thinking skills, the ability to collaborate and a zeal for self-improvement.

You should demonstrate your interest, passion, talent and relevant skills in these business areas through your involvement and engagement in a range of pursuits including:

  • Co-curricular activities (e.g. clubs or associations)
  • Community events or community service projects
  • Volunteering or religious activities
  • Hobbies or leisure activities
  • Small business ventures (e.g. to plan, organise and budget)

During the EAE interview, applicants should also show a strong interest in and knowledge of the latest developments in the accounting industry. Our aim is to develop resilient students who are adaptive to changes in the industry, strong team-players and life-long learners. You should be ready for an exciting career as auditor, accountant, tax professional and financial analyst.   

 

Aptitude Test

Shortlisted applicants would be required to sit for an aptitude test. The duration of the test is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. You will be assessed for your general abilities in areas such as language and numeracy skills, logical thinking and critical thinking.

Interview

If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview to share more about your:

  • Passion
  • Aptitude
  • Achievements

 

To help you prepare for the interview, here are some practice questions:

  1. Share with us a significant project that you have undertaken in the last six months. What are some of the challenges you have encountered and the learning points from the project?
  2. Could you share what you think would be an important life skill you should have and why? Give us some examples of how you have worked on it.
  3. Share with us your experience of any course-related activities you have participated in over the last year and how you have benefitted from them.
  4. Share with us any special skills or talent that you possess and how you think they can be utilised to help you in your journey at Singapore Polytechnic.
  5. Share with us what you know of any latest developments in the accountancy industry. How do you think our course can help you prepare for a career in the industry?

  • Accounts assistant/executive
  • Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable executive
  • Audit Associate/Audit Assistant Associate
  • Accounting/Finance Analyst

  • Other related roles listed in the Skills Framework for Accountancy
